Is font 'Arial' size 12 small enough for an essay?

Question

It may sound like a strange question but I don't want it to look like I've made the font bigger just so it looks like I've written more. For a 6 page essay what font and size would you write in?

Typically a 10pt or 12pt size font is what you need, and this would either need to be Arial or Times New Roman.



Most letters are written in 10pt or 12pt, so these are ideal for your purposes.

I usually write in 12 font, it's easier on the eyes and you won't have to strain to read it when you're reading heaps of essays.



I think 12 is fine, but make sure you get the 6 pages.

Times New Roman and Arial are the standards, as is size 12 font. At least, for MLA format.

I usually use either Arial or Times New Roman. My university's course handbooks usually ask for size 11 or 12. Anything smaller than 11 gets a bit hard for the marker to read.

Arial 11 with line spacing set at point 15 looks very clear in my view. Arial is a standard format now, rather than Times, whicvh used to be the standard. To set the line spacing, use Format, Paragraph and the on the indents and spacing tab, pick Exactly on the drop down menu and set to 15 pt, next to that.

When I do essays, I usually write in Calibri or Verdana size 11. I find that Arial looks a bit big, even on a small scale.

my english teacher tells us to use a 12, but i dont like it when the letters look big (even though size 12 is average) so i change it to a 11 or a 10..sometimes even a 10.5 =P
