could someone please help me to come up with a great ending?

my imagination has gone blank on this one. Basically, what im asking from you guys is that you come up with a great ending to this story. So here is the basic plot:
tommy has a lot of pets, although he doesn't really count his stick insects as pets (he sells them at school because he doesn't find them interesting). his favourite real pet is the gecko. the problem is one night all his creatures grow to a ginormous size and the stick insects try and feed poor tommy to the gecko...
the problem is how do i end this story! PLEASE DO NOT SAY HE DIES, BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS IN THE ORIGINAL STORY I HAVE TO ALTER THE ENDING. we are not told how they grow to a massive size either. i am looking for an imaginative ending not something even a 5 year old could come up with like some sort of superman figure flies to his rescue. could i also mention tommy likes his dads praying mantises, but he is not allowed to go near them so they could be part of the ending.

How about just as he gets to the gecko's mouth he does something disgusting to put the gecko off eating him (use your imagination - boys do gross stuff all the time!). Then he points out to the gecko that the stick insects are really HUGE in this weird nightmare world and they'd make a fantastic feast. So the gecko fights and eats the stick insects while Tommy watches or rides the gecko's back.

a) It was a dream,

b) he could steal a praying mantis and it turns out to have some magical power and his dad is not really his dad and he has infact been adopted/kidnapped/abducted and his 'dad' is this evil dude who then makes his pets grow huge as punishment, but a spell could have been bouncing around the room and it hits tommy and he gets huge too and defeats his dad and then everything shrinks back to normal size.
