I will give you the answers, but you really should try to do these yourself. After all, that's how you learn and that's how you practice for other tests/quizzes, so yeah. :) I'm in a different math that's WAY ahead of you, and I hope these are correct.

1. an expression

2. a formula

3. mn

4. an expression

5.....ab = 6x3 = 18

....c+4 = 2+4 = 6

....[what?]

....a-b = 6-3 = 3

....2c = 2x2 = 4

....b-3 = 3-3 = 0

....a-1 = 6-1 = 5

....6+c = 6+2 = 8

6. 50 -> multiply them together and the product is the answer

7. 4 + y -> everything else is multiplication.

8. If r = 3 and t = 5, then d = 8 -> multiplication, not addition... 3x5 definitely doesn't equal 8.

9. a variable -> most letters [a, b, x, etc.] are used as variables

10. 12 in.2 -> area of triangle = 1/2bh

For substitution, isolate a variable of one equation, then plug it into the different. for example. y = 4x + 5 and 5x + 2y = 7 Plug interior the definition of y from the equation on the left to get: 5x + 2(4x + 5) = 7 you may Then resolve for x, and finally plug the x fee into the 1st equation to get extensive variety values for the two variables. To do removal, this is relatively merely addition/subtraction. Say you have 4x + 2y = a million and 5x - y = -3. in case you multiply the 2nd equation via 2 (to get y words of opposite coefficients), you get: 10x - 2y = -6. Now merely upload: 4x + 2y = a million 10x - 2y = -6 -------------------- 14x = -5 x = -5/14 then you definately could plug x into the two equation to get y. wish that helps =D
