Question:
Famous Artist Who Uses Repeating Patterns?
2009-12-20 09:59:57 UTC
I need to find and research a famous artist who creates repeating patterns.
These patterns can just be plain repeating or patterns that change slightly every time.

If the patterns were of fruit or chocolate that would be an added bonus but is not essential.
Thank you =)

Check out Marian Bantjes. He's not totally famous, but he does some amazing pattern artworks.

I guess you need this for your class... I'm going to try to find out more. Will edit this if I can.

Edit:

I've found more...

- Campbell Laird

- Bridget Riley

- Victor Vasarely

- Piet Mondrian

- Yinka Shonibare

Also, you might want to look into patterns during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.

Gustav Klimt uses patterns quite a lot in his work.. but I'm not sure if you just want an artist who does simple patterns or a mix of patterns and other objects...

Henri Matisse, Picasso, and the obvious, Escher. Klimt is another good one.
