Question:
Just help me in my homework, okay?

I have asked this once, yet, there were no answers.

I have tried, many sleepless nights and I can't figure one out!

Please give me an idea for a Science Investigatory Project that is useful, one that we can all use to escape one problem. I can't graduate because of this! I have great scores for all my classes. Not passing this requirement cannot make me graduate! I can't stand turning 13 and all my friends are 1 year younger!

I have given an example:
Why can hair absorb oil?

There was a huge oilspill somewhere in the other part of the Philippines, and they requested for some hair to clean up some of the oil. That impressed my teacher so I guessed the one who passed that report got a high score.

Just help me, comment or give a site, or if you will be kind enough to give an example, please let it start with "How", "Can", and "Why".

Thanks, I am pretty sure no one will reply to this, oh well, I tried!

I think you are worrying too much about trying to find some kind of original idea that will change the world - for a school project. I really don't think that is the goal. There are brilliant educated people out there whose job it is to come up with stuff like that, and even they don't succeed all the time.

I think what is more important is to show the teacher a project where you have LEARNED what has been taught in the class. The purpose of a project like this is to demonstrate the scientific method - to set out a hypothesis, use a verifiable way to prove or disprove it, and display your data and conclusions.

If you really want to "think big" - start by thinking of a problem. What is something in the world you think is a big problem? Lack of access to safe drinking water in undeveloped areas? Global warming? Species extinction? Whatever it is - start with a problem - then start to think of good ways to combat it. (Like the oil spill and the hair...) Then you can devise an experiment to test whether this would be a good way to solve the problem!

"History of the hair idea

Using hair against the spill cropped up at a news conference, when a member of the environmental group Greenpeace pointed to an experiment in the United States that found human hair useful in cleaning up oil.

As the story goes, Alabama hairdresser Phil McCrory was watching coverage of the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska. Noticing that an otter's fur was saturated with oil, he wonder if hair could help clean up oil.

He collected five pounds of hair from his shop, stuffed it in a pair of his wife's pantyhose, tied the feet together into a ring and put it in his son's wading pool with some oil. With some scientists' help, McCrory learned that hair doesn't exactly soak up the oil, but that oil clings to thousands of tiny scales on hair shafts.

He applied for a patent on the idea in 1993, and got it in 1995.

NASA engineers did some tests in 1998, showing that hair would indeed help clean up oil.

However, marine biologist Rex Sadaba of the University of the Philippines wasn't sold on using hair or even chicken feathers. He says materials like straw may be better since hair takes time to degrade, does not really absorb oil and may not be hygienic.

"I also don't agree with using feathers, because it stinks when it rots, and that will cause additional problems," he said.

Coast Guard Commander Harold Jarder said food and beverage giant San Miguel Corp. sent a ton of chicken feathers to Guimaras and was willing to provide more, but officials have stopped receiving them.

"It's difficult to handle," he said. "And the workers are complaining because of the stench."

Reuters and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Just a suggestion; what about sleep deprivation? You could take before and after photo's to show the effect on the face etc. (red puffy eyes, slumped shoulders) and you could design some simple tasks that need to be completed again before and after lack of sleep. These will show what happens to the functioning of the brain when it is tired. Good luck!

How can you keep your feet comfortable on a rainy day if you have to walk to school?

Some considerations, rubberised boots make your feet sweat if you sit in them all day, leather shoes get wet ans make your feet cold.

Look at plastic shoes, no shoes, slippers, socks.

How about something like how people save energy by using recycled materials to build their homes, more energy efficient appliances, and different methods of acquiring energy, like solar power.
