would someone please compare the adulterous act of Hester Prynne of The Scarlet Letter to today's society?

i need to relate adultary from the puritans day to what people think of adultary today and to what the puritans thought of hester

Hester Prynne was punished and ridiculed for her actions and adultery whereas now a days it is not uncommon and in someways almost expected. I think that even though it is frowned upon and people don't like it is a more socially accpetable behavior than it was before.
