I've enjoyed all sorts of Avalon Hill boardgames throughout my life. Gettysburg, Panzer Blitz, Squad Leader, and so on.

What sort of time frame and scale are you after? Do you wish to create a specific battle or campaign? tfw

How about like monopoly....use civil war era locations and battlefields as the properties...scale down the prices back to that time period...make CHANCE cards more appropriate for time period...change game pieces (like buggy instead of car).

Instead of electric company, perhaps Telegraph Company ?

Like technology? Do a "Scene It" type game with pictures from the Library of Congress website, or clips from Civil War movies / documentaries.

Like card games? On a computer, create a deck of cards with civil war generals, battle fields, etc.

Perhaps yank vs south for black vs. red.

How about like the game "Risk" In Risk, your goal is global domination. You can have two sides (north and south obviously) or different generals and have them vie for domination of the United States territories. Here's a site that explains Risk and it's rules:

Hope this helps!
