journalism homework help please? (center spread pages)?

You have the following pieces to the page available:

(1) An article about John Manning, a graduate of the local high school who is going to the Olympics to compete with a bobsledding team

(2) A photograph of Manning on the high school football team

(3) A photograph of Manning with his bobsledding team

(4) An article about the other bobsledding teams

(5) An article about Manning’s training regime

Describe in writing how you may choose to organize the center spread pages with this material. Tell why you are putting each piece where you are putting it.

What I would do is make mock-ups of the articles and photographs. I know you don't have the real thing, but just make stick figure pictures, or whatever. Then, design your center spread.



I know the assignment doesn't say you have to do it, but I think it would help you figure out what you are seeing (especially, if like me, you think more in words rather than actual figures and pictures).



Then, do the assignment. Write down how you made the spreadsheet, and why you chose to put Photo 2 here, and Article 1 there. Why did you decide to shadow-box this, and use a bold headline there? Why did you choose to use white-space (negative space) at such and such a point?



The nice thing about this is that you can compose the pictures anyway you like, make the articles however long you like, everything is up to you! Not some stupid photographer or long-winded reporter, LOL!



If you want extra credit, you might include the mock-up with your assignment. Ask the teacher, of course, if s/he wants it or not. Extra effort, though, should be impressive.

its called the 4th estate doing its job! We NEED more, not less coverage of EVERYTHING! Please note - Ralph Nader gives a presentation before hundreds of people, and the American media ignores him. The only way that I learned of the event was through foreign media!
