“ Jasmine come walk with me,” he said to me. As I walk over I see him smiling at me so I smile back.
“Hey Mike, how are you this morning.”
“I’m fine thanks,” he said.
I have had a crush on him ever since grade 7. We are both in grade 10 now and we have two classes together,” math and gym. I think he likes me back but I don’t want to say anything just in case he doesn’t and our friendship would be so awkward then. As Mike and I walk and talk about school and the homework we had that night, I see Kait “unexpectedly” meeting us as we walk past her house. She has long brown hair, blue eyes and is an ex. Friend of mine as of grade 9 because she also likes Mike and thinks she will get him. She has been dropping very strong hints lately and I hope Mike doesn’t take them very seriously. He isn’t that shallow; I hope.
“Hey Mike, I must be lucky meeting you every time you walk by my house,” Kait said.
As I ignore her, she cuts in between me and Mike, pushing me out of the way.
We got to school and I see my best friend Brittany waiting for me at my locker.
“OH, thanks you are a great friend,” I said. “ Kait cut me off again. What should I do?”
She replied, “ Maybe you should try talking to her.”
“Are you CRAZY,” I reacted with anger. “Why would I ever talk to her after trying to go after a guy she knows I like.”
She looked at me as if it was yesterday she found out me and kait fought. With those wide, glaring, brown eyes, and wavy dark brown hair. She usually doesn’t look at me that way but whatever.
As I walked away I bumped into kait.
“Wow!! What a surprise, I just wanted to talk to you,” I said.
“Oh really,” she replied.
“ Yeah, what are you doing, you are never going to get Mike.”
Kait said, “Oh yeah, we will just see about that.”
I started walking through the very crowded and loud halls to math class. I love that class because I’m smart in it and I sit beside Mike. Best of all there is no Kait. His best friend sits behind us and they talk a LOT.
“Hey Jake, how’s life,” I said.
“Oh, it’s fine,” he replied.
After our little conversation, Mike and Jake secretly whisper to each other.
“Jake what do you think about Jasmine. Sure she’s cute and funny, but is she the girl for me?” Mike said confused.
“UMM, I don’t know maybe. She has a sensitive side to her and I hear she is romantic. She has liked you for a long time you know,” said Jake.
As Mike thinks bout how long Jasmine has liked him, he wonders if it would workout and what they have in common. He likes how Jas acts around her friends and that she is a really good friend. Then unfortunately he starts to think about Kait and what he likes about her. She is sporty and very energetic, but she looks a little weird. She doesn’t have many friends but she likes him too. Kait is trying to hard and it’s very annoying.
The next day it’s the same routine, we walk by her house and she is right there meeting us but this time she looks very different. She has her hair cut just past her shoulders and she has blonde streaks. She is wearing a short skirt and a low cut top and a LOT of makeup. I think to myself, what is she doing now.
“Why hello Mike, you look very hot today,” Kait said.
“Hey, so do you. It must have took forever to put the makeup on and did you go shopping yesterday?” mike replied.
“Yeah I did. I didn’t think you noticed,” Kait said with a low toned flirt.
“Mike you are seriously kidding me, right, she looks like a tramp,” Jasmine said with anger.
I walked away very impatient and very mad that Mike actually likes her looking like that. What is he thinking? Has he totally lost it? What did I do wrong? I thought he liked me back.
Kait runs up to me and whispers, “It’s ok, there are other guys out there for you. I told you I’d get him.”
As she goes back to Mike I look back to see what he sees in her now. They are laughing and giggling and Kait is rubbing his arm, flirting constantly. She knows like nothing about him. She doesn’t know what he likes in a girl but apparently now, neither do I.
When I get to school, I see Kait and Mike already holding hands. She is already getting attention from others guys and she smiles at every guy that looks at her. Every time I try to get close to Mike they walk away because every time I go to see him, Kait leads him away, saying, “Let’s go for a walk.”
Once I see Kait around other guys other than Mike, I grab her and pull her to talk to her
