Hey, I need some help on finding the y-intercept and slope for these problems:
2x-8y=x+16
x+y+4=x+6
Please solve these, and show me step by step how you got it.
Thanks!

you need to get y by itself.
2x-8y=x+16
-8y=-x+16
y=1/8x+2
slope is 1/8 and y intercept is 2
x+y+4=x+6
y+4=0x+6
y=0x+2
slope is 0 and y intercept is 2

So to find the y-intercept and slope for those problems, all you have to do is convert the problems into slope-intercept form (y=mx+b)
2x - 8y = x + 16
-2x -2x
-8y = -x + 16
----- -----------
-8 -8
y = 1/8x -2
In slope-intercept form, y=mx+b, m is the slope, and b is the y-intercept.
So your slope would be 1/8 and your y-intercept would be -2.
Same for the 2nd problem:
x + y + 4 = x + 6
- x - x
y +4 = 6
-4 -4
y = 2
Because there is no x in this equation, the slope is 0. (On a graph, the line would be horizontal). The y-intercept is 2.
Hope I've helped you better understand these problems! :)

okay,first start by writing the formula y=mx+b
second subtract 2x from the left then subtract 2x from the x already on the right side of the equals sign which gives you -1x
2x-8y=x+16
-2x -2x
then you get 8y=-1x+16 and you need y by itself so divide 8 by 8y and 8 cancels itself out then divide 8 by -1 and 16
8y=x+16
/8 /8 /8
so you get y=-1/8x+2
(-1/8)is m-or slope
(2) is y-intercept

Okay, we're going to be putting these into slope-intercept forms and go from there. Slope intercept form is y=mx+b, which allows us to know both the slope and y-intercept (m and b respectively)
2x-8y=x+16
-8y =-x+16
y=1/8x-2
m (or slope) = 1/8
b (or y-intercept) = -2

2x-8y=x+16
1. Get x's and y's on opposite sides by adding/subtracting them to get x=8y+16
2. Subtract 16 from both sides to get x-16=8y
3. Divide both sides by 8 to get (x/8)-2=y
x+y+4=x+6
1. Subtract x from both sides to get y+4=6
2. Subtract 4 from both sides to get the answer of y=2
