In many different works of literature, characters often change for the better or worse. The circumstances and the society act as catalysts by allowing the character to grow and develop. Characters usually change because of specific events that take place in their life allowing them to understand who they really are. In the Death of the Salesman by Arthur Miller, the protagonist Biff Loman progresses by learning to accept reality and come to realization that he is just a "dime a dozen."
