Hi guys,
I am looking for a unique computer science project to do that is achievable for students at A level (16 to 18 year olds). The project needs to be meaningful as in it needs to be able to achieve something not many or preferably no other projects/applications or software have achieved before. Any suggestions? If not, could you please share or give me an idea of what you did when you were at this stage (if you ever were)? All help will be appreciated.
Thank you.

My first programme was a C++ game app. It was tons of fun to write but there was nothing original about it. You had to make a ball hit a target and it got harder and harder. As a beginner, your programming skills are not going to be sufficient for you to write innovative software. The best you can do is think of a subject that has never been covered before.

What about storing and displaying some GIS based data? Presume you know how to write SQL statements. Maybe census results from 1900 for your area matched up with a current Google map. Better still, if you are in London, perhaps some of Charles Booth's data. That will provide an interesting mix of history and science. GIS always looks impressive.

Sudoku is a simple game, with only one correct solution. For any beginning Sudoku puzzle, it ought to be able to loop throw all possible permutations and the find the correct solution.
