My teacher wants me to type a summary and reflection on "Lord of the Flies". So, it would help to know the difference between those two. Thanks to whoever answers.

A summary is the summation of the work. That is to say, it would be summed up in the summary.
A reflection is what you thought of the book. What it made you think, or how it made you think.
Good luck on the paper.

Your teacher wants you to summarize the book, as well as reflect upon your thoughts concerning the reading. A reflection basically involves your personal thoughts and feelings on a topic. You could write the summary first, then reflect upon certain topics in the summary or you could weave your summary and reflection together. I have always found it easier summarize first and reflect later but that's just me. Good luck!

Summary is when you tell the story in short form. Reflection is what you think of the story and how you feel about it. It's more personal. However, when you are summarizing a book, you should not let your personal judgment effect the summary.

a SUMMARY is when you SUMMARIZE the whole story. telling not all but most of the specific details that occurred in "Lord of the Flies" and make sure you put all of the main events like the death of simon and piggy. and how it was ironic that Jack has became a savage when he said in the beginning of the story " we are not savages."
--not sure if you have to include symbols but if you do then they are:
piggy's specs(glasses)
the conch
the "cleansing" sea
the fire
the dead parachute guy
the sow
and etc...
a REFLECTION is how you reacted toward the story how it made you feel. so basically how you thought about it.
hope that helps =]

A reflection would be to gather and write your thoughts on the story. What does it mean to you and how does it make you feel.
The condensing of the characters and the story line and the major developments in the story would be your summary.

No a reflection is written on how the book effected you on a personal level. Most reflections often include specific tie ins from the book into your own life.

a summary is telling what happens in the story. a reflection is your feelings or opinions about the story/plot/characters.
