The four primary components of a computer system are:
Input
- Input devices send data and instructions to the central processing unit.
example: mouse and keyboard
Output
-Central processing unit executes computer instructions. Memory holds data and programs temporarily.
example: monitor and speakers
Processing
-Output devices make processed data available to the user.
Secondary Storage
-Secondary storage devices store data and programs permanently
In order to function properly, a computer system must have all four types of hardware: input, processing, output, and storage
Here is #3 for you....
An Operating System, or OS, is a software program that enables the computer hardware to communicate and operate with the computer software. Without a computer Operating System, a computer would be useless.
- Linux - Caldera Linux - IRIX - MINIX
- AmigaOS - Mandrake - Windows XP
- Sun Solaris - Ultrix - Windows 2000
4. ROM is Read-only memory, a class of storage media used in computers and other electronic devices. This tells the computer how to load the operating system. It can not be changed by the user.
5. CPU is short for Central Processing Unit. The computer CPU is responsible for handling all instructions and calculation it receives from other hardware components in the computer and software programs running on the computer.
You need it for your computer to function without it, you will not be able to do anything. The CPU is the brain to the computer so just like we would not fnction without our brain neither would the computer.
okay well I hope that helps you out.. I would consider checking out the websites below especially the first and last one for the other answers. I have to get back to doing my work now... good luck!
