(scroll down adn you will see the political cartoon )
Me being such an idiot, interpreted the cartoon toatally wrong, well i sort of got it, but all my friends interpretaton were different, I jus i cant think right :( anyways this is what i wrote, it was worth 20 marks on my exam, what do you think my teacher will give me for it?
This is what I wrote :
This political cartoon comments of the contributions Canada made in the war effort during world war two. Canada contributed not just military but also through its industries and money. Canada supplied over 70% of the total fund spent on war during World War Two. Furthermore, Canada supplied Europe with several war materials through its industries which produces materials such as ammunitions and equipment. Though Canada is perceived to be a small, inferior, weak country as displayed by its small size in comparison to the huge German soldier, the cartoon is attempting to depict Canada's immense courage and perseverence, despite the hopelessness of the situation when faced by such a great opponent. It is trying to show that Canada has given its all, and has put forth everything it can to help the war effort in order to prove itself capable. Though Canada is a small country, its contributions at that time were actually quite significant.

If the assignment was YOUR intrepretation then you should be fine.

Otherwise, move on. You win some, you lose some. Don't let it stress you out. What's done is done.

** If you can ask for a retest. Maybe your teacher will be in a forgiving mood **

Good luck!

Your interpretation is pretty good, and well informed. However, I think it misses the mark by talking about things that, in the cartoon, have not happened yet. It looks to me like the cartoon was published just as Canada was entering the war. Germany is portrayed as violent and menacing, and the reader is being shown three essential tools that WILL be needed to defeat the Germans.

I think the overall message is "It will be tough, but Canada has what it takes."

The speaker is the cartoonist himself? The occasion is Halloween night, just before the election? The audience targeted is the voters, or else the politically aware types? The purpose is to make fun of Obama's poor record and his attempts to make it look better than it is? The tone is humorous anti-Obama? These are my guesses.

Its alright that you "think differently" I do too. Embrace that though, its very important and you should feel special because of it. Trust me. In any case, its all over so calm down and be alright with who you are. Its all about your interpretation and if you see it differently, then oh well. You cant change that.
