Let the width be x... the length will be 2x - 2, so:

x + 2x - 2 + x + 2x - 2 = 26, so

6x - 4 = 26, so

6x = 30, and

x = 5

so thewidth is 5, and the length is 8.

Let the width be x... the length will be 2x - 2, so:

x + 2x - 2 + x + 2x - 2 = 26

You Combine Like Terms with The X's +& Get

6x - 4 = 26

Then You Add Four To Both Sides It Will Become Positive So You'll Get Thirty

6x = 30, and

Then You Divide Six On Both Sides +& Get

x = 5

so the width is 5, and the length 8

For this, you need to set up an equation. You need to set up 2 equations, one for finding width and one set to find perimeter.So your equation should be set up like this: l=2w-2 and 2l+2w=26. You then need to substitute the "l" in the second equation since it's equal to 2w-2. So you get 2(2w-2)+2w=26. Now, you simplify 2(2w-2) to get 4w-4+2w=26. Combine like terms to get 6w-4=26. Now, it's just a simple equation. You add 4 and then divide by 6 to get your length. You've found your width! However, you still need to find your length. since l=2w-2, you substitute w with your previous answer. Then, it's just simple multiplication and addition. That's your length!
