what formula do you use to find the distance around a circular object?

it says a circular fountain has a diameter of 48ft. Approximate the distance around the fountain using pi.
So, I used the area for a circle formula, but i don't think that's right. is it just the circumference?

Ya the question is asking for the circumference.. Aprox distance around the fountain..
