I have taken up the flute again and I am going over the notes and for some reason some of my notes sound the same. When I play a G note it sounds the same as an F. Also when I play a D it sounds the same as an E. Can anyone shed some light as to why and how to do it correctly.

well it depends how old your flute is, it may be time to service it. check that your doing the fingering right

Some of the pins under the rods may be on the wrong side (so that they are loose) if you notice some of the keys are staying down when pressed.

However, if that is not the case, your flute may have a leak as Vincent mentioned. Check your--I'd try not to repeat other people... And if you're perfectly SURE all your fingerings are correct, then it sounds like a leak.

check your holes. see if there are any leaks in the keys, if there are. you'll need to adjust the screws corresponding to the key that is leaking.
