2 1/2 - 1/3 - 2 1/6 =
2 5/6 --5 ----- 5/12 =

Alright. Well first thing is first. The 2 1/2 and the 2 1/6 has to change.

so 2 full values of 2 is 4 (2x2). And 2 full values of 6 is 12 (2x6). Add up the values that are already there

you get 4+1 = 5. So 5/2

12 + 1 = 13. So 13/6

and the other one stays 1/3

Next step

Figure out what is the lowest common denominator (denominator means the bottom part of the / sign)

In this case. 6 is the lowest number that all values can go to

. So 5/2 = 15/6 (if you multiply the bottom and top by 3)

1/3 = 2/6 if you multiply bottom and top by 2.

and 13/6 is already at 6

Last step is to add them all up. 15/6 + 2/6 + 13/6. And that is 17/6 + 13/6 = 30/6.

You can then go further and make that smalled. Because 30 divided by 6. Is 5. So you can either say

30/6. Or you can say. 5

The same steps apply to all the other questions.

Take away the first full number. Find a common denominator. Add them up
