State what is the independent and dependent variable ib each scenario, please and exolain why

1) Two cars are on a track and accelate to 60mph. At a certain point, both cars slam on the brakes. the distance it takes for each car to stop is then neasured

2) Ants are placed in a T-shaped tray and at the end of the T, the ants can either go to a darkened or light area. students can count how many ants end up on the dark and how many are on the light side.

independent is the one that changes.

dependent is the one affected by the change(independent)

1. independent=the traits of the cars.

Dependent=the distance since it's affected by the trait of the car.

2. independent=the light/dark bc/ this is what the change/difference between the two is.

dependent=# of ants bc/ how many ants go to which section is determined by the light/dark properties.

1)

Independent: Cars acceleration/ stopping - that's what causes the dependent variable

Dependent: Distance- that's what is different

2)

Independent: Dark and light sides- what you're meaning to change to get the dependent variable

Dependent: How many ants go to each side- that's what will change

Independant = nothing else affects it.

dependant = it is affected by other factors.
