I think 18 is a reasonable age. However, if a person's parents are with them I think younger is okay. My parents introduced me to alcohol when I was about 15, which let me have my first few bad experiences under their supervision. They also were very clear about if I made a "mess" I would be the one to clean it up. There are good reasons for 21 being the legal drinking age, most of which have to do with cognitive development. You should do some research about that. But, the fact that we can be drafted into the army but cannot drink legally is a little ridiculous. Therefore, I think 18 is a reasonable age that will allow young adults to experience alcohol sooner and without as much wait and excitement for it.

You'll find in Europe that the legal drinking age sometimes doesn't exist and sometimes it is 16. However, the age to purchase alcohol is usually 18.

Good Luck!

and make your own decisions about what you say.

Also, don't copy this. Not that you would, just saying that since you said don't copy paste it makes me think that perhaps you are trying to get things from other people that aren't straight from the internet. It's still plagiarism.

try a different approach too.. think about the idea that drinking should not be AGE-related. Age is meaningless and is not a valid criterion depending on the individual.

There should be criteria such as being able to vote first, then an established job with 5 year's experience so that you can pay your fines for public intoxication, dui's and drunk & disorderly conduct, not to mention financial responsibility insurance premiums that follow dui's.

If you are going to drink irresponsibly then you should at least be able to pay for its consequences.

NO, I am not saying that you should be allowed to drink if you can afford to pay the fines and such.

The biggest criterion that is not age-related is American Business. How many bars and convenience stores are there per square mile versus the number of schools and churches??

Take 100 grown-ups and have 2 "Sales". One would be all the eductional books and Bibles you can buy at 80% off, and the other would be 80% off the price of a drink at a Bar or local store.

Take a wild guess as to which one would sell out first???? How many churches and schools are getting closed down these days vs. the number of bars in your area???

Our priorities in this Country are all wrong..

To my mind, there should be only one way of handling alcohol. There should be no age limit at all. Europe doesn't have the problems we do because alcohol is introduced in childhood and overseen by adults. There is no mystique about it. It's just a natural part of life. The fact that we try to completely forbid it before a certain age makes it both attractive and something that new drinkers have no experience with. Since we do this, the older the better to me. So at least 21, and preferably 25, when a person has developed some sense of proportion and consequences.

The legal age for drinking is twenty one. The pros and cons about drinking is... well there is no pros that I know of. But some cons are alcohol is bad for you and will screw up your whole life. If you have alchohism in your family, don't drink! You never know. Some friend could have a sip of wine and then they're done. If you have alchohism in your family, then you could be drinking glass after glass after glass.
