Foregoing the things that you like will only make you want them more. Best I can suggest is create a time table and stick it where you can see it and schedule both studies and fun time and try to follow it as much as possible. It will be hard for the first little while but you will get into the routine before you know it.

As for TV shows, only see that ones that you really like, recording them if need be and watching them in the time you have set aside for it.

This way you are not depriving yourself at all.

Good luck and all the best for your exams!!!

It would be a good choice to just give up the tv.

But if that is too difficult, then you could work out a good schedule to manage tv and a good amount of time to study.

Maybe study during the day and only watch tv a night. Or take breaks in between studying to watch maybe an episode.

Whatever works for you.

I was told that if you could do the same thing every day for at least 21 days, you can make it a habit. This has been true for me for some things. I wouldn't suggest going without but pick a time slot each day (say 9 pm to 10 pm when you have everything done) to enjoy tv. By the 22nd day you won't even think about it.

You should tell yourself that you can only watch tv after you complete your homework and study for a certain amount of time every night. Scheduling tv time can be hard because you will try to prolong the time.. Don't even glance at it until after homework. Good luck, and way to take control of your academic duties!

Sell your TV. Or better yet, find a place free of distractions (i.e. library, Starbucks). Don't take anything electronic. Leave iPods, iPads, laptops, cellphones, iPhones, smartphones, dumbphones, and anything with a battery in it at home/in car. Pencil, paper, textbook, flashcards.

Set a clock/watch with the total time you plan to spend at the location and you should be able to focus. The key is getting yourself out of the environment that is filled with triggers for you to procrastinate.
