Question:
Does anyone else think it's wrong that people are posting their homework here?

I was just cited for telling someone off for doing this. Why are we enabling mass cheating here? Would anyone else agree to boycotting people for asking us to do their homework for them?

Yes, I do, they could remove that category I suppose but I doubt that will happen. Students need to be finding out how to do homework from teachers and asking fellow students for help, get a tutor or ask their parents for some help. Too many students sound so helpless and state "do these problems" or "what should I write about." This behavior only makes them continue in the cycle of helplessness. It annoys me. Once in a while I answer some homework question but most of the time I boycott them already.

Yea. I think it's wrong. But if someone wants to cheat, they're going to cheat whether that be copying from a friend in school, or here at yahoo anwers. I wouldn't go as far as boycotting people who ask for homework help. If you don't like it, then don't answer those types of questions.

well... It depends. What is the purpose of homework? UItimately to help them prepare to be successful in life. (i.e. get good grades, get into college, get a good job, be successful in life) Learning how to utilize resources and thinking outside of the box are two things that will help them to be sucessful in life, so no I don't find it to be wrong. Also, I doubt that they will forget the answer once hearing it, so it also helps them learn the material. However if you are oppossed to it then you should refrain from asking / answering homework questions on here.

It's wrong if you're posting in this section so others can basically do your homework for you...

It's not if you spent a LONG time on a question and two and just can't figure it out and need help.

I never answer questions in regards to homework. I never had anyone who would do the leg work for me on my homework.

Asking an opinion on a thesis or something like that is a little different for me though.

I think it should be allowed, if people are legitimately asking for help. I think it's a pity that people will just copy and paste people's answers as their own. But on the same page, if you give someone a complete and thorough answer, you have to know they are going to plagiarize it.

i guess i never understood why cheating on your homework was such a big deal. all you get is a grade. i finished up school altogether back in 2003 and to this day i cant see what the big deal was. you dont use most of the stuff they taught you in real life anyways. it's a VERY rare conversation to have with your boss where he says "hey i need to know what y would be in this equasion. figure it out for me." or "what was the battle of gettysburg all about".

dont be a snitch the only person a cheater is hurting is themselves.

How is it mass cheating? So if I was to ask a question to a single person isn't that considered tutoring instead?

It's not enabling mass cheating. I give people false answers most of the time.

It's not like we are taking a test for them we are just helping them out with an answer or 2.We don;t have to help them at all if we don't want but some choose to help them.

No, I don't think that that is wrong. Why do you think that they call it "homework help". Everybody is gonna need some help sometimes. Even you probably need some help with something.

Listen, they are asking for help, not to do the entire homework.

If they don't learn then guess whos problem it is, it's not yours, or mine.So let them be stupid...you cant get away with anything.

Depends on whether they learn anything about the subject matter.

I have no problem with it. If this were available when my friends and I were in school we would have done it, too. Most objections are just jealousy.

i don't think it's wrong to ask one question, as long as it isn't the entire assignment

I try to give them help without doing it for them.

Are you sure it's mass cheating?

or isn't it more likely than not - mass tutoring?

Apparently they are too lazy to do their own homework.

first of all... you can't do anything about it... so I wouldn't spend too much time on it...

and second of all... those 'cheaters' don't have any guarantee that the answers are correct...
