Class: psychology 30
project: to capture "life of a teenager"

Okay, so what I did was a documentary on a yong girl i know. She is 13, pregnant, and addicted to drugs. In my portfolio there was:
interviews between me and her, diary entries that she wrote (specifically for this project of mine, having full intentions that other people were going to read/see everything)
I also included picture in my portfolio of her (which she picked out the ones she wanted)

.Anyways, another kid was doing a project on "teenage drug use" and had a picture of three boys drinking/smoking drugs. the class asked who the boys were, and he told them it was his buddies, my teacher kicked in and said:
"That is illegal to put information and pictures up of your friends in front of a class" but while he was saying it, he was looking at me. Was he indicating that my project was illegal?!
I don't see how it can be. My friend knew she was part of my project and gave me permission to tell her life story.
Is it illegal to make a project up about someone you know with pictures, and stuff like her being addicted to drugs?!

I think you're fine if you have release forms. Photos of drug use might technically make you an accessory though if you have knowledge of a crime occurring. Not sure on that one.

Think about it this way...One might figure "Why not give them rights, they're human too!" But that would be a wrong assumption. Answer this...is it fair that born Americans can't find jobs because illegal immigrants come here and take all the jobs, just because they're willing to do it cheaper with longer hours? From construction, restaurants (cooks, dish washers, maintenance, etc...), carpentry, and many other jobs, illegals come here and get these jobs instantly. And they can't even speak english, nor recite the pledge of allegiance! Then they act like they're better than everybody else while only making $5 an hour, and living with 7 other people in a one bedroom apartment, with one bathroom. And there's actually a question asking if they should get rights??? I'm not racist or ignorant, so I tell you my answer is HELL NO!!!!!!!! Hope this helps your report.

It would be illegal if she hadn't given you permission. As it is, it is perfectly and 100% legal- just like it would be if you were reading out loud an essay that started with "One day my friend Cindy and I went swimming."

Your teacher doesn't quite know his facts, I'm afraid. On the other hand, he is grading you, so it might be better to change the names.

You probably shouldnt put names on it....but if she does give permission I dont see why it would be illegal. Maybe angainst school rules, but not the law.

Perhaps written consent from the girl would help?

No. Your project is fine. As long as you and him got consent from the ones involved youre okay.

I think its not illegal if the person who ur doing it about knows about it
