A '"Where I am from '' Poem?

I have to write a poem about my self I'm guessing, and I'm having writers block, and honestly can't come up with anything at all..
Here's an example of the type of Poem i have to write.

I am from clothespins,
from Clorox and carbon-tetrachloride.
I am from the dirt under the back porch.
(Black, glistening,
it tasted like beets.)
I am from the forsythia bush
the Dutch elm
whose long-gone limbs I remember
as if they were my own.

I'm from fudge and eyeglasses,
from Imogene and Alafair.
I'm from the know-it-alls
and the pass-it-ons,
from Perk up! and Pipe down!
I'm from He restoreth my soul
with a cottonball lamb
and ten verses I can say myself.

I'm from Artemus and Billie's Branch,
fried corn and strong coffee.
From the finger my grandfather lost
to the auger,
the eye my father shut to keep his sight.

Under my bed was a dress box
spilling old pictures,
a sift of lost faces
to drift beneath my dreams.
I am from those moments--
snapped before I budded --
leaf-fall from the family tree.

I can't write anything like that.. it's too confusing please help

It's a poem about specific memories and events that makes you unique. What makes you...you?

For instance:

Think of a special time in your past, like christmas time and the things your family would do that are special to you (I am the smell of fresh pine needles and sparkly bows, I am warm chocolate with marshmellows and spicy pumpkin pie). Then think of things your parents tried to teach you (I am showing a clean room and hoping the junk under the bed doesn't get seen) or just random things you remember (the smell of alcohol and bandaids, a stuffed animal you really liked, a bedtime song that sticks in your head, the feel of a warm towel, etc).

It's kind of confusing, but try to draw a picture of yourself made up of unique smells, knowledge, events, foods, experiences, and so on.

LOL. jogs my memory of the Dorothy Parker quip while she grow to be asked for a couplet with the word 'horticulture' in it. She mentioned... you are able to lead a horticulture, yet you are able to no longer make her think of!

You can write it in that format, just change it to your own words.

If you really love making music and playing basketball you could say something like

"I am from music,

from guitar and singing,

from rythyms and treble clefs.

I am from the court,

from dribbling the ball

to making a basket."

Just start with something like that and keep up the pattern.

It's supposed to be about things YOU like and who YOU are, so keep that in mind.
